New data on threatened species were obtained during the expedition, which began on November 18 and ended on December 2, 2005. The field work was conducted in one of unique part of Altai Republic - on the Sailugem Ridge. The Sailugem is the important habitat of such rare species as Argali, Snow Leopard, Ibex, Pallas Cat, many birds of prey. Team members investigated the territory to estimate number of rare species and to shoot a small film on them.
The team noticed that Argali herds are not successful here in spite of livestock number has declined since the middle of 1990s. Possibly the main reason of it is not poaching but the big number of wolfs. It is clear that it is necessary to take special measures to control wolfs' population, otherwise argali sheep will dissapear from this site.
Data obtained will help in taking conservation measures in the region. Expedition's participators intends to begin conservation work including surveys here in the nearest future.
